Why Us?
It’s confusing, isn’t it? So many claims and conflicting statements on the web about the laser machine used, and the number of visits required, and comfort levels. And it’s amazing how there can be so many “NZ’s leading laser clinic” claims.
As a medical clinic, we are bound to integrity and honesty. And yet we are not an “Stuffy Old School” clinic. Our audits specifically mention the relaxed and friendly attitude, the unexpected humour, and yet maintaining a professional, confident, and safe environment. Your consultation will check your medical history by a doctor to ensure there are no medical contraindications to laser treatment.
Speaking of safety, we are accredited by the DAA Group, who are NZ Dept of Health approved auditors for ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems and EQuIP Accreditation. (Not just a council issued Health Protection License).
And our Revlite Q Switched Nd-YAG laser? It’s American, (Not a cheaper Asian unregulated machine) , is only sold to Medical Practitioners, and it has 1064nm, 650nm, 585nm, and 532nm wavelengths. Most other Nd YAG lasers only have 2 wavelengths, which limits their effectiveness of removing some of the resistant colours. It is also safe for all skin types (Some skins can be horribly damaged by older laser machines. Different pigments also need different wavelengths, not just more energy.)
But let’s be honest. Some colours are resistant to removal, and particularly the reds, blues and greens. Because the new dyes imported from countries that have no regulations on what is used for the dye, it is impossible to predict the number of treatments. However, older black tattoos do very well.
And don’t be fooled by claims of being painless. Even though we use Local anaesthetic, plus cooling the skin to near freezing, it is still uncomfortable in most cases.
But it is important to realise that lasers do not remove tattoos……..they fragment the tattoo pigment and your body’s immune sustem then removes the pigment. So that’s why treatments should be 2-3 months apart. Anything more frequent does not remove the tattoo any earlier…it just increases the number of visits and therefore costs.
